ACUPUNCTURE

The ancient healing practice of Acupuncture has been used for over 2,000 years. It is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and forms part of an holistic health model. It is a beautiful medicine that aims to restore balance.

Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific acupoints on the body. These points are situated along pathways known as meridians. Stimulating these helps to encourage the smooth flow of qi (energy). In Traditional Chinese Medicine an imbalance in this energy may contribute to pain, stress, fatigue, and other health issues.

An opportunity to rest and restore.

Many of my patients comment that they find acupuncture very relaxing. One of the amazing effects of Acupuncture, is enabling the body to drop into ‘rest and repair mode’. The body’s natural painkillers are released and there is a beneficial and regulating effect on the nervous system. This very process can help facilitate healing.

Research on Acupuncture Ongoing studies continue to support the effectiveness of acupuncture for a variety of conditions. Furthermore, a recent systematic review found strong evidence for acupuncture’s role in managing pain, stress, and other health concerns.
